it took a while to get the required parts and find time to solder them into a nice rs232 adapter. The Oscilloscope shows that the converter is working and it does not look as if I crossed over anything. But no response on serial... I may still have to test the adapter on a different device. So, the next step will be to get a proper JTAG connector and interface to the Openmoko Debug Board (if possible) - and learn how to use it. Generally it would be nice to find a method to unbrick these Mipsbooks...
