Hi Andy, as long as you can start the minifs you should be able to recover directly.
If not, let's explain how it works: The minifs requires a working U-Boot and 2.4 kernel in partitions mtd0 and mtd1 and the 5MB minifs in partition mtd3. (mtd2 is the Ethernet and mtd4 the normal roots). If you can't start the recovery menu, either the kernel or the minifs is broken. Generally, it *should* be possible to boot the 2.6 kernel/Debian Lenny rootfs from a SD card. And then cp files to /dev/mtd1 and /dev/mtd3. But I have not yet tried. You could also try to mount mtd4 to access the rootfs of the 2.4 kernel and revert all modifications. But there *may* be problems with the jffs2/yaffs driver so you may really garble these partitions. Another idea is to access the U-Boot-Console.
