Hi,
 
You may need to insmod additional kernel drivers to support 3G.

The ones supported by ingenic kernel are ipw.ko(serial usb 3G UMTS TDD) and 
option.ko (serial usb GSM CDMA). 
I compiled them and put them here:

If your modem is recognized with lsusb you maybe lucky to get it working with 
wvdial (debian lenny for mipsel 2.6.24.3).
