I wasn't going to share a patch that didn't at least compile: I don't intend 
to waste any more of people's time than is absolutely necessary! :-)

Sure. As I noted to Daniel, I don't really understand signed-off-by, or 
rather, I understand now that it merely adds some kind of authorship claim but 
without any really credible guarantees of identity. But then again, it's not 
my Free Software project, so I don't have to handle the potential 
consequences. (The Linux Foundation presumably doesn't lose any institutional 
sleep over such things, anyway.)

That's your decision. I hope that people will now have at least one or two 
fewer excuses for not trying it out, anyway.
