For the server. I imply "more secure than FTP" in so far as the
development efforts around rsync and cvsup seem much more active and mature
than those around the current crop of FTP servers, which directly affects
my impression of how well vetted they might be security-wise and how
quickly any discovered security holes might be addressed. FTP also has to
do double-duty as a file upload and download mechanism. Turning off
anonymous FTP is generally considered a good thing.
