Your working setup from your first e-mail:

Disk: wd0 geometry: 9726/255/63 [156248190 Sectors]
Offset: 0 Signature: 0xAA55
         Starting Ending LBA Info:
 #: id C H S - C H S [ start: size ]
------------------------------------------------------------------------
 0: 07 0 1 1 - 6714 57 63 [ 63: 107864001 ] HPFS/QNX/AUX
*1: A6 6714 58 1 - 9726 28 46 [ 107864064: 48385936 ] OpenBSD
 2: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0: 0 ] unused
 3: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0: 0 ] unused

Notice the asterix (*) . This marks the actvie partition that the bios will
boot. Do you see the differnce between the two configurations?
