i don't use gnome, but tried setting it up for my dad a few weeks ago for the first time, and i recall mention of requiring 3d acceleration and as such access to /dev/drm (iirc?). so adding gdm to rc.conf.local isn't the only thing it talks about. --patrick > I also noticed that avahi-deamon is failing on startup.
