Usually npppd can work with Windows client without problem.

I think this is usual behavior of Windows.  ipconfig doesn't show the
remote gateway's address.

Did you alter the "Use default gateway on remote network" checkbox in
"Advanced TCP/IP settings" of the Windows client's VPN connection
entry?

Does ping to 10.0.0.1 from the Windows success?

How about "npppctl session all"?
