The behavior is the same whatever dimension I set for the partition. On top of that, I noticed that MBR init through fdisk doesn't work too: [....................snip....................] root@poseidon:[~]> fdisk -i sd1 Do you wish to write new MBR and partition table? [n] y Writing MBR at offset 0. fdisk: error writing MBR: No such file or directory [....................snip....................] At this point, I suspect a compatibility issue of the (very old) IDE-to-USB case...
