In Absolute OpenBSD, 2nd edition, the following comment is made: """ The portmap(8) daemon has its own rc.conf flag, as it can be used by many other RPC services. The mountd(8) and nfsd(8) daemons are controlled by a single rc.conf flag.
Add the following entries to rc.conf.local to start all three processes at boot time: portmap=YES nfs_server=YES """ This doesn't quite seem to work for me in 5.9. While nfsd starts, mountd and portmap do not. I reverted to: mountd_flags="" nfsd_flags="" portmap_flags="" which works fine. What's the status of the entries used in the book? Are they deprecated?
