I checked beforehand via disklabel if sd0 and sd1 are the actual RAID volumes and sd2 is the decrypted volume. Everything now is fine again: With the key disk inserted OpenBSD starts as usual. Thank you devs for your fine work - the problem sat in front of the screen ;-) Lesson learnt.
