If you open up the developer console and start a video, do you see any
requests that end in an error in the Network tab?
Well, yes. I've got only three of them blocked intentionally.
(ad.doubleclick.net and googlesyndication)
these are blocked at dns level.
but my android phone for example uses the same (my) dns and is still
able to play video.
