if ntpd's DNS lookup fails during startup, it repeats it with CD (check disabled) set, then re-resolves once the clock has been set. so I _think_ this is expected to work by itself.. running ntpd in the foreground with debug logs might give some clues. -- Please keep replies on the mailing list.
