That’s how I “solved” that problem too, though I’m not too worried about leaking anything, so I just did it for vanity. Note that you can’t control the middle 16 bits (xxxx:xxff:fexx:xxxx), and you should always set the local bit (02:00:00:00:00:00) in custom MAC addresses. For example, ce:cc:ff:ee:80:00 has the local bit set, and it yields an IPv6 address of ::cccc:ffff:feee:8000.
