Hello misc,

I upgraded my time server to 7.8 from 7.7 today. Upon reboot, the usb
hub shows zero connected devices. I plugged in a keyboard and confirm
the USB ports are working as expected (and seen in "usbdevs -vv").

In 7.7, the USB GPS receiver is seen as:

/bsd: uplcom0 at uhub1 port 1 configuration 1 interface 0 "Prolific
Technology Inc. USB-Serial Controller" rev 2.00/1.05 addr 3
/bsd: ucom0 at uplcom0: usb0.2.00001.0

and "sysctl hw.sensors.nmea0" would correctly show the signal status.

In 7.8 "usbdevs -vv" is bare:

Controller /dev/usb0:
addr 01: 8086:0000 Intel, xHCI root hub
super speed, self powered, config 1, rev 1.00
         driver: uhub0
         port 01: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 02: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 03: 0001.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 04: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 05: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 06: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 07: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 08: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 09: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 10: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 11: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 12: 0000.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 13: 0020.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 14: 0020.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 15: 0020.02a0 power Rx.detect
         port 16: 0020.02a0 power Rx.detect

I assure you the GPS receiver is plugged in and has not moved between
reboots, and subsequent power cycle as a test. The GPS receiver itself
reports having signal lock.

hw.sensors.nmea0 is also missing from sysctl now (because the USB isn't
there).

I tried "cu -l /dev/cuaU[0..3]" to no avail, normally there would be
the raw output of the NMEA message stream; in particular on /dev/cuaU0.

Thoughts? How to troubleshoot this?

Thanks!

deimos
