I finally script this in rc.securelevel:
if disklabel 888; then mount 888.i /pathto/mcdonald mount -t msdos 888.j /pathto/minny fi n.b: 888 = disk uuid; the disklabel is a bit more elegant and less stichy as it reports about the found disk and it exits.
