Must be the different firmware - or maybe a different model.
It's a H1, but they make a white one and a black one; mine is the white.

It has firmware 2/10, which seems to be the latest to download at
https://www.zoom.co.jp/node/54#downloads - the H1 is discontinued:

I "upgraded" anyway (from 2.10 to 2.10).

I guess I will stick to using the H1 @ 48k (which I preffer anyway).

I believe this is not sndiod'd fault: it does what it does
according to what the device tells it, and it says 48k even
if I have clearly chosen 44k.
