in particular, snapshots change fast enough, and there are few enough users fetching them, that you'll be quite lucky if you actually manage to get it from cdn cache unless you're updating a couple of machines at the same time. the cdn is mostly useful for releases around the time of release. for everything else, in most parts of the world you're better off with a nearby standard mirror.
