I also have a ralink card (regular PCI used in a Soekris with OBSD 4.0), and I am experiencing similar problems - horribly low radio performace over short distances. The other Soekris with minipci ath card works flawlessly. I have to admit that I have not made further investigations into the problem, but I am definitely following this thread and would be very interested in any insights.
