Upgrading the ALIX firmware from 0.98 to the latest BIOS v0.99 solved the problem! My appologies for the noise. But maybe the archive may preventing others to pull their hair out in the future :-) Also, note that it took me quite a while to figure out why my attempts to upgrade via the Xmodem procedure failed. According to the readme in the firmware .zip archive, PC Engines has not ported the Xmodem flash upgrade option yet. Thus you need to image a CF card with FreeDOS, as PC Engine's Web page mentions, boot ALIX under FreeDOS, and then finally run sb.com which updates the firmware. Good luck, Rolf
