fwiw, most of the work on the native jack backend was done on an
azalia.  I use it with sub 5ms latency settings when I plug in the
keyboard and use a soft synth.

of course, what really matters is the codec in your device.

sigmatel sold it's audio stuff to idt.  you can find stac* datasheets
on idt.com.  although, I haven't yet found one for stac7661.
