ahh, livecd dmesg aren't really much help, because we don't know what drivers they were built with, but now I see your GENERIC.MP dmesg which you must have sent while I was reading mail ;-) it's still not entirely illuminating as to why it didn't attach though; pcidump -vxx may give a clue.
