asked for contributions and also being insulted, both by the hosts.

Another take on this is that you are sliming your host (meaning developers), his/her friends, and all people who benefit from your host's work because you did not like what some unknown random person with a gmail address was saying in a public mailing list. And all this to support someone who demanded direct handholding from Theo and was complaining when politely asked to use the web!!!

Regardless of your standards of etiquette that anyone may have violated, it is a shame that you would drop financial support for the OpenBSD project. It is especially unfair because there is nothing a developer can do to stop unknown persons from saying whatever they want. Your public statements about withdrawal of financial support and use of other OS'es etc., are more rude than anything that you faced on this mailing list.
