Make this thread closed. I manually 'upgraded' (only) the file /sbin/pfctl from exactly the archive used at the upgrade 4.6->4.7 procedure, and everything 'pfctl' works fine. This leaves us with the problem of the failed upgrade procedure, twice now. Thanks to all contributors in this thread! Uwe
