Your expectations about snapshots are those of a stable release. You
should install 5.3.3 if you want stable code and accurate doc.

Snapshots are built from our development branch and contain code that
needs testing, that may be subject to changes and that may break. The
documentation is not accurate because we write it once the feature is
finished as it can evolve drastically between two or three snapshots.

The man pages on stable release are accurate.
They now also are on the latest snapshot.

I don't have time to work on more than code + man pages, if people want
to help with a FAQ, pool of common configurations, they are encouraged
to do so.
