They're sort of common knowledge amongst most people that have been using mailing lists for a while, but I guess that doesn't really doesn't help newcomers.
A concern would be, which ones to include? If you included all of them it would be too much clutter IMO. I think marc.info, gmane, and mail-archive are the most popular, but there's other like readlist.com and probably a host of others I am not aware of.
Maybe it would be better to add any mailing list web archive links to this page rather than the email footer.
