I'm happy to report that my hacky implementation now works! It's not yet ready to be merged, but I'll clean it up a bit and submit it heres soon.
I would like to test it in my staging environment, but unfortunately I'm blocked since the table doesn't seem to work on OpenBSD anymore, which I've submitted on the bug tracker as <https://github.com/OpenSMTPD/table-ldap/issues/3>.
If I understand correctly you were the one implementing the async handler code. Do you have any ideas of why it hangs?
