OK. .gitattributes and the $Id$ tags are COMPLETELY gone now.
Note that I also disappeared edwin-variable$rmailsum-rcs-header,
microcode-tables-identification, all (two) uses of AC_REVISION, and a
couple rcsid variables in swat/c/tk3.2-custom/. I might put those
last lines back, after .gitattributes is safely gone.
I really think I had fixed the ident problems (BEFORE this commit).
Yet I can't resist blotting out this yuck:
$Id: ccf8a0b661d069e7fb6bb82ccf6dae5c2e7c4b62 $
even if it eliminates the unique "time"stamping of file revisions.
