Hi Matt, basically IGT as a submodule of MITK is meant to provide access to tracking data and allow the processing of the data while still being integrated in the MITK toolkit with all it's functionality for developing medical imaging software. IGSTK is a toolkit providing more than tracking data acquisition and processing and can thus be seen as a platform for developing image-guided therapy software. Hence it is more a "competitor" of MITK than of MITK-IGT. Basically it should be possible to also use it together with MITK, but there are no current plans for an integration as our IGT needs are covered by MITK-IGT. We just recently extended MITK-IGT about a management of Tracking tools and are actively working on new features. Please let us know when you have specific question / needs. We're always happy to help out.
