Hi Ghazall,

have you looked at the imagecropper plugin and its code? It allows you 
to select a rectangular volume though the interaction is in 2D. For 3D 
interaction this is usually based on picking points on objects already 
visible in the 3D scene. These picked points are then translated to mitk 
events.

The "Display" tab is provided by org.mitk.editors.stdmultiwidget which 
in turn is mainly a QmitkStdMultiWidget
