Hi,
it is very similar to to creating a view from within your plug-in. You
can use the generator to create a plug-in (which will also create a view
extension) but you need to provide an editor extension on your own.
You can find an example in the my.awesomeproject.renderwindoweditor
plug-in in the MITK-ProjectTemplate [1] repository.
