Hi Daniel, I talked to our overlay guru, as he is currently out of office. He's not sure about the first aspect and he needs to have a closer look, but he really welcomes the second aspect. I would suggest to open a feature request in order to discuss details. :)

I did not yet look much into the details of the implementation, but I'd appreciate your opinions / experience regarding two aspects: 1. I don't see any foreground effect when I call OverlayManager::AddOverlay(forceIdForeground=true). Is this known behavior? Does anybody know if this is fixable or a deeper problem? 2. The text offset is expressed as a 3D vector (in an mitk::Point3D) from the overlay position. I am surprised that this is not expressed in terms of the camera view direction. As the text orientation changes with the camera (i.e. it visually remains the same), I'd also expect the offset to remain visually stable. Is this the intended behavior? Would a change of the offset definition towards something expressed in terms of the camera view direction be welcome? As a replacement or as an alternative offset version? I see that my second point could partially solve point 1, too, when moving the text towards the camera. Thanks for your help!
