"Deer" in English refers to a type of antelope, and a "gnu" is another type of anetelope. "Gnu" is pronounced the same as "new", so "Gnu skin" sounds like "new skin", because it's not Deere. It's also an homage to the GNU operating system, whose name was also chosen for the pun with "new".

Instead we may call the new skin "Cormick" and add some white and red.
