It currently works on the Hercules because of a magic formula that takes the linear value (say, 50%) coming from the controller, and turns it into another value (say, 34.5%) that it then sends to the pot. This value makes the pot go to half way (or close enough to). This is why I think it's strange :) The 50% signal from the controllers should (I think) send the relevant EQ 50% of the way, and the log value should only come out when you query the pot for its value, perhaps.
