Yorick,
If you think it would be a helluva' lot easier to maintain a series of make
files, please jump right in, no one says we can't have both after all. I
would point you to the discarded 1.5.x make based build system in CVS.
Amongst your fixes, you should be sure to include enhancements for both OS
and compiler portability + optimization in your solution (windows/VC++) and
while your at it if you could write a few make extensions to resolve the
libs dependancies on each platform, have it build debs, incorperate build
version info into the builds, etc, etc... like we have now... That'd be
great.
And while you work on all that I'll keep plugging away with SCons for now...
