Another idea just sprang to mind. Especially if you're using a MIDI device in Mixxx and JACK has it open for some purpose as well, this can probably cause crazy crashing. The worst case is probably you have some midi controller which is also your soundcard and you try to open the soundcard in JACK and then Mixxx tries to open the same device for MIDI in ALSA. We should probably do something cleverer (like use JACK for MIDI) in this situation...
