Sounds like a good start to me. I've started a page for the feature
spec, everyone please feel free to add stuff to it:

My big questions is: What can we do to make this as simple and user
friendly as possible?

Example: I remember when I was a young n00b DJ, I found looping
terminology confusing. The terms "loop in" and "loop out" got me for
some reason - "in" and "out" make no sense to me in the context. "Start"
and "End" or something would be better, I think.
