0-127 based on absolute position, with 0 being at the bottom of the
slider, which would be the forwardmost position of our imaginary record.
It's just a straight vertical slider, hence the triangle approximation,
with the center base of the triangle tangent to the imaginary record.
(It has a relative mode too but that's not useful for accurate positioning.)

Actually it ranges from 0.0-1.0 regardless of song length, so that's the
reason for the variable intervals.

The problem is that the track will drift during scratching if there
isn't some accurate way to keep the slider position locked to the track
position. Using the "scratch" control acts more like a jog wheel with no
spring-back since it was tying the slider's relative position to the
plackback speed and direction. I.e. if I slide my finger up an inch and
hold it, the track will play backwards at a certain speed even if I stop
moving my finger.

Perhaps the vinyl control code has some answers? Where should I look?
