Hi again.

Ok, I finally understand the deal with series vs milestones in LP and
why bug reports have separate statuses per release target.

Basically, you branch from trunk for each release series, just like
we've done for Mixxx 1.7. That way, fixes and bugs related to the
current public version are filtered from the complete list of bugs,
making it easier for people maintaining the current public version,
since trunk bugs aren't included in the stats for the series. The
separate statuses are for this scenario: say someone fixes a bug in
Mixxx 1.7 but it hasn't been merged to trunk yet. The status for Series
1.7 would be "fix committed" while for "Mixxx" (trunk) would say
"confirmed" or whatever until the series branch gets merged into trunk
again. (Remember, "merge" in this sense means _copying_ the changes into
trunk, leaving the branch to continue to support the public version.)
This also works the other way: if a bug is fixed in trunk but hasn't
been merged to the release branch, the status for "Mixxx" will say "fix
committed" but for 1.7 will still say "confirmed."

Make sense? The only gripe I have is that we can't remove release
targets from bugs, at least not that I can see.

Then milestones are point releases within a series, which I think most
of us understand already.

So I've created a new series which can be checked out using the URL you
have been (which needs to be renamed) or using lp:mixxx/1.7 which is
preferred as it's an alias to whatever the correct URL is. So everyone
is encouraged to start using this URL (lp:mixxx/1.7) for future
checkouts since we will rename the absolute branch URL soon.

I'm moving the bugs from the former 1.6.2 milestone into the now-current
1.7.0 milestone which is in the 1.7 release. Please review the statuses
for trunk and update them as appropriate (meaning if you hadn't checked
the fix into trunk, the top status should not say "fix committed.")

Let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Sean M. Pappalardo
