I made some little hacks to get single deck control working in my lp:~ywwg/mixxx/features_xwax branch. If you select single deck mode, mixxx will use the first deck device to control both tracks. It's up to the DJ to enable and disable the control mode either through the menus or with midi. For some reason I'm not seeing mixxx show up in my midi list any more, so I haven't been able to test the midi control. It was working before, though.
I've also added the skin that I use, "Trancer-DJO-3" to the tree. That skin has the UI elements you'll need to make vinyl control useful. This includes: a border around the track area that indicates vinyl control -- green for OK, orange for end-of-record warning (it blinks!), and red for needle skip. There's also a button that toggles between the vinyl control modes, ABS, REL, and CONST. CONST is "constant mode," which keeps the track going at whatever speed it was playing at when you switch to that mode. This mode is used for needle repositioning. When the needle reaches the end of the record (which happens with long tracks), mixxx automatically goes into CONST mode so the DJ can reposition the needle without causing the music to stop. The DJ can then switch to REL mode to continue. Now that the tree is basically feature-complete, it's time to whack it with a stick and see what shakes loose. There's already a crasher I mentioned in another email, and there's certainly other things lurking in there to be found (like, you're in single deck mode, 2nd deck enabled, then turn off single deck mode -- most likely bad things will happen). thanks, Owen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval Try the new software tools for yourself.
