Adding a library preview player is definitely something we've considered and
would like to add in the future. We already have a similar wishlist bug
filed for it in our bug tracker here:

possibly today since Mixxx internally has support for an arbitrary number of
players (samplers or decks). We're just limited on developer time. We'd love
