You can do that just as easily with Javascript.
There's nothing we need to server side that can't be done client side
(other than the forums/wiki of course). It doesn't make sense for our
server to sit there rendering the same page over and over when there are no
elements of it that need changing.
Cactus also provides huge wins in terms of maintainability, ease of
contribution (no need to have a PHP server running to do development on the
Mixxx website) and features -- but that's orthogonal to rendering the page
server-side as plenty of server-side frameworks offer the same.
