This means it understands music empirically rather than socially which is the case with Google and YouTube.
Users are constantly comparing and editing the fingerprints for accuracy. Typically only tracks that are really marginal and obscure to its database aren't immediately recognized. It's a pretty solid system and one that is good to support interaction with to encourage increased accuracy.
