Don't make false claims :). I'm actually very interested in the FFmpeg plugin
and the only reason I've not using it atm is, that Mixxx does not compile
against FFmpeg 3.1.

In my naive view, FFmpeg brings a lot of benefits, the development is very
active, a whole bunch of audio codecs and containers are supported and it
is very likely, that future audio codecs will be implemented, too. I think, 
using
FFmpeg as input could bring Mixxx this support as well and at best results in
less code to maintain and easier support for new features.
I'm not a developer, so correct me, if I'm wrong.
