So the card really records at the 1/2 resolution.

Right, you load the driver using something like: "update dc10plus"

If you read NTSC 4.43, PAL 60 or even NTSC 44. It is always the same. A
modificated NTSC that is used to play back NTSC Videos on a PAL VCR and
view them on a TV.

That type of things usually only make the sync better, and remove
macrovision. If you look for a reall good thing you should take a look
at the ELV (www.elv.de) an search in the SHOP area Video - Audio
devices. The most interresting thing should be the: VCP7003.
