        Ah yes - and it turns out that on OS/X libtool 1.5 was even more
        necessary for other c++ related reasons (the linker on OS/X is of
        the "dare to be different" variety).   Thankfully OS/X 10.3
        comes with libtool-1.5 already integrated into the system.

        So my advice to install libtool-1.5 was right on the mark :-)

        As soon as Andrew gets back from vacation and can tend to mplex
        the next RC can be put up for testing.
