        That tells me that the audio format in the input file wasn't
        recognized.  What type of audio is supposed to be present in the
        source file?

        Right - don't use "-m" with mplex

        The -m option hasn't been around in eons (mplex can figure out if a 
        stream is MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 without an option).

        What version of mjpegtools are you using?  If it's not 1.6.2 (the
        last release) you  might try upgrading to that.  If things still don't
        work then the CVS version might be worth a try - I know that the 
        lav2mpeg script in the cvs version does not use '-m' with mplex.

        You might also try using 'mplayer' to dump the audio and/or video
        streams (-dumpaudio and -dumpvideo).  Then you can experiment with the
        component streams without going thru lav2mpeg.
