[...] > [/incoming/reuben]$ lav2mpeg not_have_an_all_volunteer_army.avi > 20:55:55 - > ++ WARN: [lavinfo] Input file not_have_an_all_volunteer_army.avi is not > in JPEG 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 format 20:55:57 - using mode=vcd, stereo=0 audio This means that the AVI you want to encode is not a mjpege encoded AVI. The mjpegtools can only handle mjpeg codec for the video and for audio wav in AVI's every other codec will fail like this. If you can play the movei back with mplayer, you can use mplayer and the mjpegtools to create a MPEG file with a commands like that:
>mkfifo stream.yuv >mplayer -nosound -noframedrop -vo yuv4mpeg anyfile.mpg & > cat stream.yuv | yuvdenoise | yuvscaler -O SVCD | \ mpeg2enc -f 4 -o video_svcd.m2v >mplayer -vo null -ao pcm -aofile anyfile.wav anyfile.mpg >cat anyfile.wav | mp2enc -o audio.mp2 >mplex -f 4 audio.mp2 video_svcd.m2v Depending on your source you might have to change the commands for the encoding.
