Unless you've got an aftermarket chip, I suggest trying a tank
of 89-octane midgrade.  I know, I know...but seriously, when
I did it with my Jetta the MPG went up noticeably.  I get about
30mpg on the highway now, whereas I used to get about 26
using 92-octane.  I'm not sure why this happens, but it's true!
Just a suggestion.

Also, burning a quart of oil every 1500 miles seems like a lot
to me.  You might want to get that looked at.....your piston
rings could be going.
