It is kind of hard to tell if the blower motor is bad, or if you have set
the selector switch to something that runs the A/C compressor, such as the
defroster. The compressor will loose its oil, and eventually seize up.

: Towards the end of this past summer my AC compressor died and I had to
spend a few weeks suffering. No big deal though. I've picked up another
compressor and will have it installed soon. I'm not in a big rush though
considering that it's the middle of winter, but recently (last night on the
way home from Phoenix) with the heat on (vent selection blowing towards my
face and not my feet) and the temperature selector about 1/3 (from left to
right) I started hearing this dort of wailing and moaning noise. It
seriously sounded like there was a dog stuck in my dash.
:
: I didnt think much of it. Followed the "pay no attention to it and it'll
go away" theory, but this morning, I cant even keep any sort of air blowing
through the car. The sounds the thing makes are LOUD and it sort of shreiks
and shudders. It seems to be coming from behind the glove compartment.
:
: It's definately not the belt squeal associated with loose/wet/worn belts
that happens when the A/C or defrost is on, I'm sure of that.
:
: I'm not real familiar with climate control stuff and I know I shouldnt be
bitching when I live in So Cal where the coldest it gets is about 45, but
I'd still like things to work correctly.
:
: Any help appreciated
